Safety Briefing Video for Kletterwald Graz

To ensure that everything runs as smoothly as possible for you and for other groups, please read the following information carefully before your visit:

  • Please arrive as a group at least 20–30 minutes before your booked time, so that everything that needs to be done before the start can be completed in advance.

Before the Start

  • As soon as you arrive, participants should remove necklaces, rings, large earrings, smartphones, etc., and empty their trouser pockets. If you wish, we can provide a locker for your valuables. Backpacks and bags cannot be stored in the lockers, but you can leave them together on our terrace. You will most likely not be the only group visiting us that day. The operator accepts no liability for your valuables, so please bring only what you really need.
  • If you wish, you can also use the time before the start to visit the restroom.
  • As the accompanying adult/group leader, please report to one of our instructors at least 15 minutes before your booked time to register the group and confirm the final number of participants.

Safety Briefing

  • Please make sure that all students/participants are ready at our hut no later than the booked starting time. For larger groups (20 people or more), we divide participants into several smaller groups for the safety briefing so that the process can be completed more efficiently.
  • Afterwards, you will watch our safety briefing video together on site. This also applies to teachers and accompanying adults. All accompanying adults must watch the entire video at least once.
  • After the video, please come to our hut to put on your climbing harnesses. This is also a good opportunity to visit the restroom if necessary. We kindly ask all accompanying adults to help participants put on their harnesses. Once one of our instructors has checked that a participant’s harness is fitted correctly, they will be given a helmet and can proceed directly to the ground-level practice station. There, you can independently practise the procedures and techniques demonstrated in the video.
  • To complete the safety briefing, participants must climb a short training course at a height of approximately 2 metres under the supervision of one of our instructors.
  • Afterwards, participants may explore Kletterwald Graz independently under the supervision of the accompanying adults/teachers. Please make sure that participants only use the courses that are permitted for your visit (no high-rope courses with the Family rate or for participants under 140 cm in height).
  • The entire safety briefing process takes some time. The more you support us as accompanying adults with preparations, putting on harnesses, etc., the faster we can complete the briefing and get everyone climbing.

We would also like to point out once again that adult accompanying persons are responsible for children under the age of 15 while they are using our facility. We recommend a supervision ratio of 1:5 (one adult for every five children/students).

Supervision means that an adult must always remain within sight and calling distance of the participants who are climbing. We particularly recommend carefully supervising participants when they enter and climb onto the courses. On all courses, this supervision can also be provided from the ground.

All accompanying adults must complete the entire safety briefing process so that they receive all essential information and safety instructions. Kletterwald Graz instructors are also always available on site to answer questions and provide assistance.

We recommend wearing closed-toe shoes and comfortable sports clothing (no skirts). Participants with long hair should also bring a hair tie. You are welcome to bring your own gloves. Gloves can also be purchased from us on site. All other necessary climbing equipment will be provided by us.

Snacks and drinks can be purchased from our vending machine on site.

In the unlikely event that Kletterwald Graz has to close due to bad weather, we will contact you by telephone as soon as possible. If you do not hear from us (please check your email and telephone), we are open and will expect you at your booked time.
